Seller cancelled order after I paid for item; falsely claimed at my request

Hello,

I recently made an offer on a collection of Turok comics (order 10-12848-79997).  The seller accepted my offer and I paid for them within an hour. An hour after the money had already left my account, I received a message from the seller. He claims that he sold the comics to me on accident  and had another buyer lined up. He processes a refund, without my consent, and claims the reason for the refund is my request.

I still want the comics. What are my options?

There is nothing you can do.

The seller was wrong to accept your offer but nobody can force a seller to go through with a sale if it hasn't made as much money as they wanted.

eBay can't force a seller to sell, just as they can't force a non-paying buyer to pay.

You can report the buyer for giving a false reason for cancelling. Sellers are penalised with an account defect for cancelling without a valid reason. If the buyer asks to cancel eBay accepts this as a valid reason, so sellers often claim that the buyer asked them to cancel the sale to avoid this penalty.
