Every time I attempt to revise my listing, the ebay automatically adds the "Simple Delivery" option. Unfortunately, this service is not cost-effective for my product.
The item in question is a small socket weighing just 13g and measuring approximately 2cm in length. It sells for £3.99 and is typically shipped as a large second-class letter, which costs £1.55. However, the new Simple Delivery option charges £2.70 for parcels up to 1kg, which is excessive for such a lightweight item.
I am unable to remove or change this delivery option, and I cannot pass the £2.70 cost on to customers without making the listing uncompetitive. Absorbing the cost myself is also not financially viable. This is before factoring in the increased buyer protection fees, which have already raised the overall sale price and reduced my sales volume.
If there is no longer a way to sell competitively on this platform due to these enforced changes, I will have to consider alternative marketplaces such as Amazon.
I would appreciate any guidance or solutions you can offer regarding this issue.

Light items and those under £10 in value are exempt from Simple Delivery, but many members are just not seeing Custom postage appear for those items.
From the link below see Rick's workaround solution and adapt it to your items.

They also have to be letter size, not large letter which this socket would be.

Oh, I thought the OP says he usually posts this as a second class letter ? I agree though socket does imply perhaps not fitting into a standard letter size ? Bit confused here.

For you, given the items you are selling, there is an easy solution.
Properly registered business sellers do not have to use Simple Delivery.

Thank you for the link. Its frustrating that a work around is needed. But the work around does seem to work well.
