Hi, I purchased an item from a seller in early June. Seller despatched it by Evri, which they confirmed on their tracking site; unfortunately since then Evri admit that, despite searching at the location where the racking stops, they have now said that they have been unable to find lthe package. I communicated this to the seller yesterday and requested that he issue a refund. My dilemma is that I'm not sure whether, for this to go through , I need to open a case or assume that the seller has the ability to refund without this step (the cut off date to do this isi n the next few days). As the seller is, in effect, as much a victim of Evri as I am I would not wish it to reflect badly on him if I do have to open a case.

Only way to guarantee you get refund is to open ebay case.
It is up to seller to claim from Evri or ebay, depending on how postage was sorted.
make sure you escalate on day 4 if no refund.

It won't affect the seller as long as they deal with the problem without you having to escalate your case (that option only appears 3 complete days after you started it).
