Evri dumping stuff outside house and item stolen

I recently purchased a fish eye lens. Evri left the item outside the property without me requesting for it to be left there and the item was stolen and I went through PayPal to get my money back but this has now gone in the sellers favour. I have not received the item and it has left a bitter taste in my mouth for using EBay again as a source to purchase items from. Disgusted. I’ve requested my items be put in a secure locker or pick up point but the Evri app/ web site is down. I’m starting to use eBay less and less because recently this is becoming more of an issue of items being left outside of open properties without any guarantees. Next time I make a purchase I will leave the money outside the shop front and see if they are happy to deliver…..Evri as a third party courier is disgustingly. Use another company with a depot. Unacceptable .Item purchasedItem purchasedAfter item was stolen from outside property and not on driveway as photograph I tried to use the app to make sure settings went to secure location. The app does not work and Evri is beyond a jokeAfter item was stolen from outside property and not on driveway as photograph I tried to use the app to make sure settings went to secure location. It's not eBay who leave the items in unsafe places, but your courier.

I'm lucky I have a superb Evri lady,  if Evri could clone her their problems and complaints would disappear overnight!

When I receive  message my ' Evri parcel is on its way',  there' s also a place to suggest a ' safe' place or with a neighbour,  rather than leave it outside the front door.  Do you not receive the same ?  That could help with just leaving it outside for prying eyes and thieving fingers to steal,  which is unfortunately becoming too common!

Delivery problems have become one of the biggest risks for buyers on eBay.

To some extent these problems apply to all internet purchases, but are worse on eBay.

This is partly because, especially with simple delivery, eBay makes huge use of Evri. But also because of eBay's own rules and policies.

One reason is eBay's extrordinary policy of treating "attempted delivery" as being successfully delivered. So eBay will not accept a claim for non-delivery, even if it is never delivered. (PayPal requires tracking evidence of successful delivery, not just that it was attempted - as does the law.)

Another imortant point to understand about eBay is that its money back guarantee policy is unregulated. This means that they can make whetever decisons they want, with buyers having no right to any independent appeal. PayPal, by contrast, is regulated, with buyers have a right of appeal to the financial ombudsman.

The whole situation has become like the Wild West. "Payment per parcel deliverd" budget couriers are desperate not to have to make a second visit, and dumping parcels on the doorstep with a photo is almost univeral practice. Even clearly stated delivery instructions are often ignored. So many parcels are stolen after delivery that the police in some areas have advised buyers to use click and collect services instead.

EBay won't accept the buyer's word about items delivered to the wrong address - they won't even accept the buyer's word that the photo provided isn't even their front door! And no-one even talks about the legal duty placed on UK business sellers to ensure delivery to a safe place.

I have to admit this is a major reason why I NEVER buy anything on eBay today if I can get it anywhere else. I have more confidence in buying direct from reputable large companies, or otherwise from "the big "A", which mostly delivers in their own vehicles - and usually the next day!

If you funded the payment with a debit or credit card, try issuing a not received chargeback with your card provider, they should require better proof of receipt than either eBay or PayPal do.
