I posted a listing to sell a 19th century percussion cap pistol. It was quickly removed and I was informed by EBay that listings for firearms are not permitted. However, under s.58(2) Firearms Act 1968 it is perfectly legal to sell an antique firearms sold as a curiosity or ornament. I suggest someone is not uysijng their common sense here? Am I unreasonable to think this?

Take them to a local Auction house ... eBay strictly restrict the sale of firearms and accessories including replicas ... relisting risks account loss or sanctions as per >

What is legal and what Ebay allow are two different things. I can't really offer an opinion on whether or not that is unreasonable.
You are not allowed to sell your gun on the site. Don't relist it or you could find your account is affected.

The latter ones you describe, are also banned items, and yes I agree they can be found on the site for sale, but they have slipped the net.
With over 7 billion listings on at any one time, it's impossible to check each and every one, so some invariably will find their way onto the site. Once they are spotted and reported, they will be removed.
eBay also rely on members reporting these items, there's a report button down the right hand side of every listing.

Not everything you see on ebay is allowed, and listings can be reported for removal by memebers when not permitted,as ebay can't revoke/police all listings/items on the site.
There are many antique shops etc that provide/sell such antique firearms etc,and many are available online, where you could look to enquire to them about selling your pistol.

'' ... but I CAN sell cudgels, clubs, knives and bayonets- all freely available of EBay. ''
As advised ... you will find them listed from other sites but the UK site also has a policy restricting sales >
