Automatic translation

Hello, I’m hoping someone can help explain how to turn off the automatic translation of messages. I can’t get the automatic assistant to pass me onto a human agent to discuss my automatic translation problems (!)

eBay don't have auto translate.  Try your browser settings.

Unless your account was originally Registered outside the UK ?, there is no automatic translation required.    Should a message translation be required, Google translate is excellent >

Automatic translation

Hi, thanks, but this is definitely from within the eBay messaging system. I should have provided more detail on what’s happening: I sometimes buy off ebay.fr <>, ebay.de <> and so on. My French is good as I use it for work. However, ebay then provides an unnecessary translation of the messages I get from sellers into English, which is confusing and not always accurate. This is a very recent phenomenon and appears linked to the creep of AI.

Some EU registered accounts supply a basic translation service on their sites --- stick with Google translate.

You’re right about Google translate being better than most, but I prefer not to have the translation—as even that isn’t error free.

I don’t think this can be about individual member accounts because it has suddenly started operating on every (around 6) accounts I was interacting with over this last weekend, having never happened to me before in some decades of trading with people around Europe.
