Buyer messaged me via e mail & messenger

I posted an expensive pair of trainers on e bay. I was shocked to get a message via e mail & messenger asking me what price I was looking for as they loved Nike trainers!! 
I ignored the message and didn’t reply . 
I checked my account on e bay and the same person contacted me again with the same message. I told him I would not be speaking to him outside the e bay platform and only to contact me via e bay. 
How did he get my e mail address and find me on messenger??

No idea,  I believe there are ways and totally beyond me, but block them now, and at the bottom of the page from the link below,  tick the box to block their messages too.
