'Easy Delivery' woes...and ebay 'help' does not exist!

Right, have sold an item, ebay have defaulted on the listing (without telling me) to this 'easy delivery' by Royal Mail. They've set a size limit of 41 cms, but as I stated clearly in the listing description, the item measures 71 cms long!

Now I know they've basically stated, 'oh don't worry, if we've got it wrong that's down to us - and we'll pick up the tab for any surcharge from Royal Mail'. But erm, no they won't from recent experience: an item recently ended up with a yellow sticker on it saying it was over weight and tried to charge to buyer extra! 'Easy delivery'...yeah right!

I've been trying every which way to get in touch with ebay since last night; apart from their totally and completely useless AI chat bot, I've now had 5 emails saying 'we tried to call you' (as that was the only realistic option in trying to actually get to talk to a human being) - and no, I've checked all of my phone settings so nothing prohibits them calling me!

As it's seemingly impossible to get in touch with a human being now (I text chatted with someone only a few weeks ago - have they taken that away now btw?), do I take the chance and use this label that they've already charged me for? Don't trust it - and Royal Mail can be a£$ey about oversized items!

I am NOT prepared to cancel the sale and relist for him to buy again, I'm not messing him about like that! This on eBay. (I think I've had enough of them now by this point the way they've changed things - got better things to do with my time than have this kind of faff!)

If it is the skateboard, find a suitable courier and post it yourself.

You will have to update the tracking.

You can't ask the buyer for more money for postsge but, as you advertised with free postage, Ebay will deduct the postage from your sale.

You can then claim a refund for the cost of the unused Simple Delivery label.

If you don't use the Simple Delivery label provided, you or your buyer will be refunded, depending on who paid for postage.

  • If you selected 'Buyer pays’ when you created the listing, your buyer will automatically be refunded for any Simple Delivery label that isn’t used after 30 days
  • If you selected ‘Seller pays’ and offered free postage on your listing, you'll need to fill out the Request a refund for Simple Delivery form for the label that wasn’t used. Make sure to send your request within 14 days of your item selling
