Can anyone (including eBay) please tell me why I can no longer use my own courier service to post a sold item and the thinking behind that decision?
I do not want to be restricted to just Royal Mail or Evri postal services.
I’m quite capable of arranging my own courier service, which I have been doing for a long time now. I provide a next day priority service which my buyers have very much appreciated and now I have to rely on Royal Mail or Evri to provide a consistent quality service.
*****eBay, please reinstate the previously available postage options for sellers to use their own courier services*****

The only way to avoid SD is to upgrade to business seller.
You can then chose your own courier.

It is unlikely that anybody from Ebay will read your post.
The decision has been made to roll out Simple Delivery and make it mandatory for almost all items sold by private sellers.
Ebay are unlikely to change this so it's a case of accept it or stop selling.

I’m not a business, I just sell my own personal property from time to time.
If I sell an item and decide to not use eBay’s prepaid postage label and instead post the item using my own preferred courier service, I’m guessing eBay will still charge me for their prepaid label?

If you offer free delivery, Ebay will charge you for the label.
If you don't use the label, you can apply for a refund - see below.
You will need to update the tracking as that will be automatically added from the Ebay generated label.
If you selected ‘Seller pays’ and offered free postage on your listing, you'll need to fill out the Request a refund for Simple Delivery form for the label that wasn’t used. Make sure to send your request within 14 days of your item selling

Hi, thank you very much for the info and advice, very much appreciated.
I will definitely be using that in the future as I will not be using Royal Mail or Evri for any of my postal needs.

Yeah I didn’t think there would be but put it out there anyway.
I’ll just do as you suggested and use my own courier service anyway and request a refund for their pre paid Royal Mail / Evri label that I didn’t use.
Maybe they’ll get the message from the community when they get fed up with having to process refunds for unused postage labels.
