BUYER PROTECTION FEES KILLING SALES AS A PIVATE SELLER
Does eBay want private sellers? It appears to me that they do not and/or are trying to force people into becoming business sellers. This is my last year selling on eBay, fed up with the constant changes which are not always for the good of the customer. For example a £2 postcard now levies 80p buyer protection fee or 40% cost, madness. No wonder sales have dropped off a cliff. I do not want to be a business seller, just sad to see the demise of a once great platform for selling. My underlying thoughts are that eBay are just plain greedy and do not care about a sizeable proportion of their customers.

Sometimes being a Business seller is about complying with ebay policies, so best you upgrade your account and avoid any of the new ebay changes.
Go to Account settings in My eBay.
Select Personal information.
Select Edit next to Account type. You may be asked to sign in again.
Select Confirm to upgrade to a Business account.
Specify whether you operate your business as a legal entity or as a sole proprietor and select Continue.
On the following page, enter your business information such as name, contact information, and returns policy. Then select Save.
You can keep your existing listings as a private seller

Agreed. How eBay can't see this I can't understand.
Until they see the light and review this disproportionate BPF for low value items all sellers can do is look at possible ways to combine sales into batches of similar items - where this is possible.
