Relisting Earlier

I have 2 items ending at midnight. When and if they are relisted, I would like them ending earlier, without losing nearly a day's listing. I wondered if it's OK to create new listings, with earlier ending times. This means there will be 2 listings for the same thing, which will overlap. I may have to bite the bullet and relist in the evening, which will mean losing nearly a day's listing, Unless someone can suggest a solution?

Please bear in mind, the people at the other end are employees, just like you and me (until I retired). Please be polite and respectful. You’re more likely to be listened to.

Do not have the same item listed twice you could receive bids on both auctions.

Select sell similar on the listed auction,  correct the scheduling times, and save it to draft.  Then relist it when necessary.

You can always end an auction early if you wish,  but most bids can come in the vey last minutes even seconds of an auction, so in my humble opinion,  always worth waiting for the auction to finish, before relisting it if unsold,  for sale again.

You are allowed a duplicate auction although obviously it's supposed to be for another item.    However, the info says only one listing without bids will be visible to buyers at a time so it could screw up your original auction.   I would relist as normal the following evening.

Relisting Earlier

Thank you for the help.

If I relist when it ends. I'll be stuck with it ending again at midnight tonight, or a minute or two later. My current thinking is to bite the bullet, miss a nearly a whole day and relist tomorrow evening at a more civilized time.

One side issue. I tried experimenting with a test listing. When trying the rescheduling option, it said nonrefundable fees will be charged but looking at the bottom of the draft, it still said list for free. I'm confused.

It should be free.    The bottom of the draft is correct.

You are listing for 1 day only this incurs a fee of 35p each time you list

Non refundable fees means listing fees.  These are fees paid when you select optional listing upgrades.

See here:

Add any of the following optional listing upgrades, and they all come with a non refundable listing fee.

This is payable sale or no sale and charged the second the item goes live.

Reserves: 4% of the set reserve ( maximum £150 per item)

Subtitles: £2

Listing in 2 categories: 35p

Gallery Plus: £2.50 ( free for clothes and shoes)

Listings with duration 1 - 5 days 35p

As a tip, before clicking on the final List Item With Displayed Fees button,  glance just above it,  it should read £0.00 Listing Fee.

If there is a fee amount listed there,  you have selected an upgrade,  and if you wish,  it gives you time to scroll up and remove the payable upgrade.

There is a 35p fee for a 1 or 3 day listing, not for 5, 7 or 10.

While I was experimenting I tried it out as a 5 day listing, with scheduling. It still came up as 'List it for Free' but there is a message under 'See  pricing options/ Scheduling' which says:

Scheduling

Select the time and date you want your listing to go live (non-refundable fee applies).
(Copied and pasted from the 'sell an item' link on the eBay website)

It doesn't appear at the bottom of the listing which still comes up as 'list it for free'. I am on a pension and every 35p counts, that's about 1.25 hours of heating for me. I like to know what I am paying, before I commit to it.

If I relist tomorrow evening I won't need the rescheduling option.

Hi tressygirl

Where did you see:

Listings with duration 1 - 5 days 35p

I thought it was 1-3 days 35p. Every period above is free. I love the word free.

Just getting ready to relist tonight.

Thank you. It's no problem. I got caught out a couple of times. It said 35p. Then I went back to edit the listing and relist it. It said 'List for free' but when I got paid, they had deducted the original 35p. Sneaky.

Thank you tressygirl and everyone else for your help. I have relisted the items for 5 days this time, which will end next Saturday evening. I'll then do a one day listing till Sunday evening. Another 5 day listing until Friday evening. 2 X 1 Day listings, until that Sunday evening. If they haven't sold by then, I'll give up. They are listed for about half of what they are worth.
