I've been selling (and buying) on ebay for nearly 20 years and have never promoted an item (I'm rarely tempted to look at promoted items and frankly I just don't want to pay to promote - I'd rather re-list until an item sells). However, ebay have just offered me £15 off promotion fees and I might as well use it. But, I can't find any information on the fees for this. I've looked at 'help' info and even tried the automated chat, but no information whatsoever (guessing it must be somewhere but I can't find it). Can anyone explain the fees please?

Before you accept the offer and start promoting your items, do read all the Ts and Cs.
This was the one that stopped me from going ahead:
'The £15 off will only be applicable to fixed price listings that have Sold (“Sold” means that the item has been paid for in full by the buyer) on the Site during the Promotion Period in order for the Promotion to apply, resulting in Promoted Listings fees based on the advertising percentage rate elected.'
So, if the item doesn't sell by 31st March, you don't qualify for the offer you have accepted and used.

If every seller is promoting items, seems to defeat the purpose of it.

Agree, but if every seller is offered 'money off' and nearly everyone else is promoting, not promoting items leave your items at a disadvantage. Ebay is getting way too complicated - I just want to sell a few unwanted household items, but ebay is determined to make everyone a business seller.
