Have I really lost my item and the payment?

I sold an item, seller paid, I sent. Royal Mail.

After a few days buyer requested a refund as item had not arrived and checking the tracking it had not so I refunded the payment.

A few days later the parcel has been collected and the tracking updated but no signature.

The buyer now has ghosted me and to make matters worse ebay refuses to help because I refunded the money.....

Needless to say I'm really hacked off about the whole situation, any ideas or help would be most welcome.

If buyer has item and refund, there is no means of forcing buyer to repay you, and in any case there is no means to do this through ebay.

Has to be done by agreement between buyer and seller, but without cooperation from buyer you are stuck

You could try sending buyer a paypal invoice and hope.

 

You could report buyer, see link, but doubt any action would be taken.
