Trader refusing to refund for incorrectly supplied part

Hello, I’ve not used this forum before, but hopefully someone can help me.. I bought a used £250 part in the UK, it was shipped to my Nephew in the UK, who then packaged it with other items for me in Cape Town, the part arrived and was mis labelled as a left side mechanism, but was in fact a right side and completely of no use to me. I. Contacted the seller and it was within 4 weeks, but didn’t open a case, I explained there could be a delay in getting the incorrect part back as I would have to carry it in my luggage a few weeks later, he said no problem, and gave me a return address. I brought the part to the UK and then posted to him for next day, and once he received the part (within 8 weeks of order) offered to only refund 50 % due to the time. I can’t see a way of opening a case with EBay or of even giving him a review on the purchase now, any ideas what I can do?

By having the purchase delivered in the UK and forwarded on, that invalidates the ebay, 30 day money back guarantee.

 

You could see if your payment provider can help.
