I recently sold an item on eBay however the buyer later decided he no longer wanted it and requested a return. My parcel arrived back to me damaged that was caused by the delivery man, recorded on my RING door bell. I have spoke with the company in question and they said that I have to contact eBay and get them to submit a claim on my behalf as they will not allow me to do it.
can anybody offer any advise please the item is worth a considerable amount of money.
kind regards

The buyer posting the item back should have packed it adequately for a safe journey, to arrive to you in the same condition as sent out.
Have you refunded through the case details? You need to do this in 48 hours after receipt of your item, or the buyer can escalate and eBay will force the refund. Cases are automated no human contact so no point challenging it at this point.
After refunding you can appeal the decision for the refund, I cannot lie, it's not always easy and eBay do tend to fall on the side of the buyer, as they do not see the item in question, the condition sent out compared to that returned.
Here is the process for appeal.

Aaah , hopefully you have that agreement by Royal Mail admitting liability for the damage in ' writing'.
Contact the buyer, as you do need the help of the sender of the item, for help now with compensation for a damaged item.
