Disgraceful ebay customer service person on the phone

Just had foreign ebay customer services laugh and take the *bleep* out of me, that I had just asked if I could have my payment for something just purchased from a lovely gentlemen but he wanted to wait  3 weeks till pick up. Ebay now do not allow you the money until the code is given upon collection. He just started laughing that it was my fault that I told customer he could wait 3 weeks till pick up and that I should cancel order and sell to someone else. He was the worst person I have ever spoken to. Shambles of ebay now

The agent could have been more polite, but the information they gave you was correct.

You will receive the money after the buyer has collected the item and given you the collection code.

But I know this fact, it was just the way I was spoken to. Also I have had this before and the ebay service team have given me the money before pick up because of my impeccable record

There is no excuse for rudeness, but you were asking for something that they are just not allowed to do.

If Customer Services have previously released funds before collection, they are unlikely to do so now as payments to private sellers are all subject to holds and are not now released until proof of delivery and/or positive feedback is received.

I have never heard CS doing that, but OK.

Be warned that buyer can still open item not received case within 30 days, so you would have to refund them if that happens.

It's just the default 14 day hold that applies to untracked (or no collection code) sales.

I thought for no collection code items ebay say it can take up to 30 days to release funds.

This is an edited version of what we were told by a community manager.

"Depending on the account status for example, there is an issue with the account, the longest time it will take to release the funds is 31 days. In general, the funds will release in 14 days but that won't be the case for everyone.  Not adding tracking or not scanning the code is the same maximum trigger point for releasing the funds".

I knew I'd read it somewhere.

But as I said, buyer still has 30 days to open case, so seller may have to refund.

Indeed, that remains a risk.
