I've just bought a gold item worth nearly £600 from a seller who used 'Simple Delivery'. Simple Delivery offered Royal Mail 'Tracked 24'' as the postal service. If you look at Royal Mail's Terms & Conditions it says precious metal items are defined to be 'Valuables' and the only Royal Mail service for which 'Valuables' are insured is 'Special Delivery'.
Can eBay please confirm whether the 'Simple Delivery' deal they've negotiated with Royal Mail includes Royal Mail insuring 'Valuables' sent by services other than Special Delivery and if so, which services?
Can I also request that eBay please update their FAQ for 'Simple Delivery' to provide an explicit statement on this - because without this reassurance users who are familiar with Royal Mail's terms and conditions will not trust 'Simple Delivery'.
Can eBay also clarify the position regarding Evri & valuables (especially given that Evri are famous for throwing items on the floor outside houses, knocking the door, jumping in their van and fleeing the scene as quickly as possible).

As the buyer, you do not need Special Delivery, but seller does.
Typically ill thought out system which is going to cost sellers a lot of money.
