Hi
How do I go about claiming compensation for an item I sent that was damaged by Evri. The buyer has been reimbursed and I have asked eBay Customer services serval times and they tell me I don't need to do anything - but I am £80- out of pocket. I was selling a vintage coffee pot and matching cups and saucers. The coffee pot was broken in transit (I have a pic of the damaged box). Evri was utterly useless and now eBay are not helping me either. Any advice on how I get the compensation?

You should not have refunded as eBay sort claims for damage with simple delivery that you used, the buyer should hava opened a claim for item arrived damaged, uploaded some photos then eBay would have refunded them.
Whether eBay would refund you i don't know but you could try gettimg a callback here https://www.ebay.co.uk/help/eua?id=5275&mkevt=1&mkpid explain you didn't understand how simple delivery worked and see if they will

Evri don't cover your type of item,
whether ebay will under SD, I'm not sure.
As advised contact CS & ask, good luck.

You'e unlikely to get any compensation from Evri. I think you will find that ceramics will be included in their long list of items excluded from compensation for damage.
If it was sent by eBay's simple delivery but you have already refunded the buyer yourself, it's hard to know what to do. The buyer should have opened a case under eBay's money back guarantee; if eBay was satisfied that the damage occurred in transit they would have refunded the buyer themselves. The buyer could then have returned your own refund. If they haven't already opened a case it's probaly too late now - the item sold on 30 August, and the time limit is 30 days from delivery.
Good luck, but you may have to write this loss down to experience.

If this was sent via eBay Simple Delivery and your buyer opened an eBay return and selected the 'arrived damaged' reason, then they would have to have added a photo to their claim and then eBay would have reimbursed them, you keep the original payment.
Did you go ahead and refund them outside of a return?
