The New eBay Absurdity . Where Does It Stop?

I’m going to ask this:

If Amazon or any other seller platform told you to pay 2.5 times the correct postage and promised to refund the difference 21 days later, what would you think?

eBay seems to think that makes sense , instead of just charging the right amount upfront.

I bought four items from a seller and agreed to combine postage. Before bidding, we checked the eBay "Help" page which clearly says you can request a total from the seller. I’ve done this loads of times before so it confirmed what I already knew.

But when I won the items (four very small figurines)  I realised there was no “Request Total” option and the postage came to £8.15. I contacted eBay customer service to ask for help. Two hours and two employees later (one of them rude and sarcastic) I was told with a straight face that I had to pay the full £8.15 instead of the actual cost  around £3.50  and wait 21 days for a refund.

I was also told I “knew the postage” when I bid. Oh, sorry eBay — for trusting your own Help page, which says nothing about this and clearly states there will be a “Request Total” option.

Honestly, I hope they lose customers over how little respect they’re showing us. Seems like that’s the only way they’ll start treating people better

Since SD was introduced, private sellers can not combine invoices.

No one knows if it will return.
