I have been watching an ad for a camera kit for some months now and sent a question to the seller to see if I could come and view it, they did not respond. Despite this, I decided to take the plunge and make an offer. This was rejected immediately and I considered that this was because the seller had set a reserve amount, this is why the system rejected my offer so quickly. Some time later, I decided to make another offer and this time the system accepted it and told me that they would be in touch when the seller responds. The seller did not respond, my offer has now expired and I'm wondering whether this ad is actually still correct and the kit is available. It was first listed in April of 2024, with further revisions in May 2024. My second offer was very close to the buy it now but I'm reluctant to use that option because I'm wondering if the seller has either forgotten about the ad and sold the kit elsewhere or they are in some way incapacitated and unable to respond to the ad. I thought about contacting eBay to ask but trying to reach an actual human being there is more difficult than getting blood from a stone! Without eBay's help, I don't know of any way to find out whether this seller is still alive and well or otherwise indisposed! Any suggestions?

Ebay won't contact the seller on your behalf.
They may well simply not use Ebay any more.
Personally, as they have not responded to your message or offer, I would move on and find another item.
The seller would not have been allowed to allow you to view the item before purchase as that would break Ebay rules.

The ad is not an auction but a classified and it was my understanding that viewing was allowed for these. Also, in the ad they strongly advise people to view. I'll probably have to move on but it's a shame as this was exactly what I was looking for.

Cameras would not normally be sold as classified ad, unless seller listed under business office and industrial.

It didn't occur to me that it would be a classified ad. I was just thinking you meant a camera and some lenses etc. Items listed like that are not covered by the Money Back Guarantee.
It must be listed in one of these categories:
The Classified Ad format is available for listings in the following categories.
