I was negotiating (using “Make an Offer”) with a seller on eBay. The seller initially offered me a price, but after a few back-and-forth negotiations, my offer was declined. We used up all the available “Make an Offer” attempts, so I then contacted the seller directly (Contact Seller) with another offer.
The seller agreed to my price, but when I tried to buy it, the checkout still showed the higher original price, not the price we agreed on. Now that the offer has expired, and despite my follow-up message to the seller, they don’t seem interested in helping or adjusting the listing.
It’s bad enough trying to get through to eBay support, let alone dealing with a seller who isn’t interested in selling.
How can I purchase the item at the agreed price?

There are lots of issues with import fees to and from USA.
Trump keeps moving the goal posts.
Ebay are not sending items from UK to USA via GSP at the moment.

An amount agreed informally in messages is never going to affect the listing price, it's not an offer according to the systems.
You either wait until you can make another offer, or accept the seller doesn't want to respond to you and relist at the agreed price.

Thanks. I think you may have the wrong end of the stick. After failed negotiations the first time, the seller then sent me the offer again as in the first photo. When I click on go to checkout, it takes me to the second pic where the item price (offer) is totally different.

You are buying from USA, so you pay 20% VAT on top of item and postage price.

Then the VAT is incorrect as it's only a 12.19% increase on the item and a 20.06% increase on the postage?

Sorry, yes, when added both together. Why don't they say that on the offer, so I can calculate the limit for charges with customs?

$173 X 20% VAT = $34.6 so item total price is $207.60.
Your figures show $207.59.
Ebay exchange rate is never good for buyers.

Yep, the limit before extra customs and postage charges this side is $183.03 so the 20% VAT takes it right over the limit and ruins the sale. I thought we sent all the criminals to Australia, when in fact the robbers never got past our borders.
