Simple delivery is not so simple

I have just tried to relist some of my items and Ebay have taken away the advanced options for postage, leaving me with only simple delivery.

I have spoken to Ebay about this and advisor tells me just to create the listing again to get the option of advanced postage options - well tried this and surprise surprise it does not work.

I tried selecting package up to two kilos and it came with a price of 3.38 (buyers paying from), however when I actually listed this item then went in to look at the live listing it had a postage price of £2.82.  How does that work?

I asked about the pre printed labels at my post office and they confirmed if it is under priced the buyer will get charged at the other end.  When I put this to Ebay they have said Royal Mail would contact them and Ebay would pay the difference but eventually the buyer would be asked for the extra postage.  I'm afraid I can't see buyers being happy about that.

I have only selected Royal Mail as my postage options as i will not use Evri (they are one of the worst delivery companies on this planet).  I have always used Royal Mail and more recently the 48hr tracked option as it is delivered in two days.   This simple delivery is definitely not simple for me.

I wanted to carry on using this service but it looks like its bye bye to Ebay for me!

Simple delivery is not so simple

Simple Delivery  was announced to be mandatory for Private Sellers from the 15th April.  It's been a very,  very slow roll out, some lucky sellers  able to still use custom postage  until June.

However,  now if not all  most sellers,   will find there is no custom postage to select unless their items are exempt ,  which include light items under 100g, those under £10 in value,  or extra large heavy items,  over 20kg.  Your items do not fall into the exempt categories, so you will only now have SD postage to use.

Sellers are finding current  listings have been automatically changed to SD postage,  check your listings regularly,  as errors have occurred .

You can deselect Evri if you wish, and just offer Royal Mail as a postage option, it does cost a little more,  just to offer one option !

I had already deselected Evri.  The prices for the postage they bare putting on the listing are way out.  My items are usually under £10 but it still wont give me the advanced options for postage.

I think I will just have to walk away from Ebay.  Its not worth the hassle.

Once you are on Simple delivery the custom option is unavalable unless the items are less than £10 AND  under 100g and standard letter size or over 20kg and outside size limits, your items do not fall within these limits so sd is your only option to send when selling on eBay.
