I made a substantial purchase of a mobility scooter which broke down after 2 months, and was returned at the sellers request for an automatic refund - which they are now (after receiving the buggy back) only offering via Ebay, however as it's after 30 days there is no way for me to raise this - after several phone calls, the seller is still refusing to issue the refund any other way and is trying to tell me that Ebay can in fact raise a refund if the item is faulty up to 6 months later. Ebay are telling me no...Currently £800 down and the seller is citing his Ebay fees as the reason he won't issue me a refund to paypal directly - and that it's fraud to pay into a different account. any advice? Thanks!

It is too late for ebay but if you used Paypal they allow 120 days for claims direct from their website. If you used your credit card, with or without Paypal, you can try them too, if Paypal don't help.
Another option is money claim online (previously small claims court):

Best of luck.

The seller is wrong here.
Even after 30 days, if they want to refund through Ebay, they can certainly do so.
I have just gone back to one of my sales from 28th June and the option to send a refund to the buyer is still there.
They have your address, they could easily send you a cheque and not do the refund through Ebay at all.

Refunds can be made through the ebay system up to 90 days from purchase. Tell them to try rather than lie about it.
Seller is just using excuses to avoid making refund, but as said your payment provider should be able to start a charge back.

I should mention the purchase date was a month before the received date, so outwith the 90 days too, unfortunately. Thanks for the replies folks. -all helps 🙂
