Buyer abusing not received process

I had a buyer purchase a small item from me, free postage, which I duly sent and had proof of postage. However because it didn't arrive at the time they wanted (it was sent at no cost to them by second class) they started an item not received process.  I asked them to wait for a couple of days, which they did but then contacted me saying the post had come that day and the item wasn't there, so demanded a refund.  I refunded them but then checked the tracking and found it had actually been delivered that day, the buyer is ignoring my messages, I can't find any help from eBay, anything I can do?

If this item had not arrived by the latest estimated delivery date, the buyer would have been entitled to open a money back guarantee case for non-delivery. If it arrived later than the latest estimated delivery date they would have been entled to return it for a full refund, with you being required to send them a prepaid return label if you wanted the item back.

It isn't clear which of these procedures were followed - if either - but there is no point in contacting eBay unless you can show that they failed to apply their rules correctly.  If your complaint is that the buyer has now kept both the item and the refund I'm afraid that this will be between you and the buyer. Regrettably eBay gives sellers no support when this happens - which it does quite often.

Thank you for your reply and help, looks like it's another case of eBay siding with buyers and giving sellers zero support 🙄
