Recover of postage

Hi, on the 20th July 2025 I sold an item and posted it through a courier different to those offered by Ebay, which I paid myself. I did not use Ebay's couriers, still I was not paid that money into my account. How can I recover that postage money? Thank you.

Recover of postage

I believed I have the right to deliver the item as I saw fit, I didn't know I was tied to Ebay for the whole process. Now I have learned the lesson and charge the buyer with the cost of the delivery when I offer 'Free delivery'. This is what Ebay forces sellers to do. Thank you for replying.

Offering ' Free delivery'  is just the same as pre Simple Delivery days, and sellers had ' Free Postage'.

That is,  the seller has included the postage charge in the item's price , as of course,  there is no such thing as a free postage / delivery , someone pays.

Adding postage price to an item's price,  so in effect, the buyer does pay for that postage.

Recover of postage

Your buyer originally paid postage, not you so it will be them that may be get the refund of the simple delivery options, if you submitted the claim within 14 days for unused label.

Yourself you will not be able to recover said postage money. You paid for a service outside of Simple delivery. If you had wanted to claim monies back you should have listed the item as with 'free postage' and then claimed.

You will have to get the ebay label, and then cancel it, to get refund. If however you selected buyer buys the postage the refund goes to buyer.

What you did seems to be a way round using simple postage, but bearing in mind the complication of cancelling the ebay label, and risk of ebay not liking cancellation, is it worth the trouble.

I never intend to use Simple as it is not Simple, so I only list items that are exempt.
