I want to revise a listing that has a bid on it and 5 days to run.
I want to add additional photographs which the bidder requested and I sent by message, so that other potential bidders can see them.
There are currently 19 photos on the listing
eBay allows me to add the photos but when I save the revised listing it red flags the number of photos telling me there are too many.
This happens even if I only add one extra photo.
How can I let bidders see the additional photos?

You cannot revise a listing once bids have been placed
23-09-2025 12:38 PM
Sorry, it's not possible to revise or add any photos once a bid has been placed.
eBay rightly deem that a bidder(s), would not come back and read / see the listing again, and could in effect miss a vital detail or correction.
The listing stands as it does, to the end of the auction.

EBay notes certain aspects of a listing can be revised after a bid is received but not within 24 hours of the auction deadline. Revisions can include adding text and adding photographs, but not editing existing text / photographs.
To me my problem seems to be technical?

I have already added text to this listing after the bid was received; adding photos is the issue.

If it's technical then please contact eBay Customer Services, and please come back with their answer as it may help us to help others.
First time I've heard details can be added to auctions with bids! Interesting, can you post the eBay link where this is written again for us to pass to others.
This is the easiest and quickest way to contact eBay Customer Services, for a Call Back option.

I recommend contacting CS first thing in the morning as there's more chance of Dublin answering.

Thanks for this. I just checked and I made the listing edit just before the bid came in. So that fits with what you (and others) have told me.
But it doesn't fit with eBays advice that parts of the listing can be edited, including photos added, after a bid is received.
See screenshot appended from eBay.
Note I am not a regular eBay user, in fact a novice so apologies if I am missing something basic here.

I'm glad you have come back to confirm the edit was made Before the bid was placed.
The screenshot you showed actually does show what can and cannot be changed when there are bids , that is the - sign, and what can be changed, the + sign . For auctions with 12 hours plus to run.
Must admit it could be written / explained there a little clearer ! 🤔
To be clear once a bid is placed nothing can be changed, otherwise, well here's an example ....A watch is listed fully working , receives 7 bids, seller allowed to then revise the listing to say actually it's not working. Those 7 bidders would not, I expect come back and see that most vital revision, buying and paying for an item not as originally described !

I understand your example, makes sense. But the +/- signs on my screen shot are only to expand / close the drop down menus. I have copied another screen shot which clearly shows (to me) what you can and can't change with a listing with more than 12 hours to go with and without bids.
The link is
eBay need to fix this if what you are telling me is correct, and I am sure it is.

Sorry, I wasn't referring to the + / - on your screenshot yes that does enlarge, make smaller that actual screenshot.
I was referring to the + and - on the actual eBay screenshot you showed!
Look at the + sign and the - sign on the eBay page you are showing, explaining what can and cannot be revised, then go back to my post.
The page is correct, but maybe could have been written a little clearer ! 🤔

Unfortunately I cannot understand your explanation.
The eBay page has a list of things you can do, and can't do for various scenarios including more than 12 hours to go, with a bid made. According to this scenario you can add photos. Copied below:
What you change in an auction-style listing depends on how much time is left on the listing.
What's changeable depends on whether your listing has received any bids.
You can:
You can't:

You need to look at the - and the + in the blue circles, to show what you then can and cannot do with and without bids.
I agree it's badly written, but end of the day you cannot revise an item with bids, sellers could add a vital detail that current bidders would not see, and b e buying an item which is different than previously described.

That is what I copied and pasted in my previous message. It is very clear that you can add photos. It couldn't be any clearer.
I accept that you can't make changes that eBay say you can for the reasons you explained, and because I tried it multiple times - each time the revision locked the existing photos and allowed me to add more up to a total of 24 which I did, these loaded okay, but when I clicked save at the end the number of photos got red flagged even when less than 24. But it tells you too many photos, not that you cannot add photos if there is a bid. So you keep trying......
eBay need to sort this out as it is a mess / misleading and false.
What can be clearer than this? (sorry to go on about this) and this is my last post on the subject:
You can:
24-09-2025 3:49 PM
There is a minus sign in blue before the word Bids! This means with NO bids you can do the following
You can:
Above this is a + Bids this means WITH bids you can do.... and there's nothing there.
As I have said it's not clearly written!

Well the last post was obviously my penultimate one although it was intended to be the last one.
I think I understand the confusion on the eBay Revise a Listing page.
You keep mentioning Blue circles with +/-. These are simply activation buttons to drop or hide drop down information.
When the Blue circle is + click it and the Blue circle changes to - and the hidden information drops down. Click the Blue circle again and the information is hidden and the Circle has a + inside it.
The presence of a +/- in the Blue Circles is only related to accessing additional information, nothing else.
See screen shots for more than 12 hours with no bids and bids with Blue circles with + (no information) and Blue circles with - lots of information.
I am using a desktop computer, not sure if you are using a phone / iPad and the App is different. But even if it is eBay have a major problem with their advice on the internet at least.

Second screenshot (it only allows one per message)
24-09-2025 4:59 PM
Unfortunately the confusion here arises because eBay have used - and + instead of words With Bids and Without Bids.
Change the - and + to with and without and see the line above which says ...
' What's changeable depends on whether you listing has received any bids'
This follows the bad examples of....
+ No bids (change the + to With ..no bids this is what you can do with the following list below)
- Bids ( change the - to With bids this minus means you have bids and Cannot do what's showing in the lists below)
Then the following with the above you can. the + sign ( auctions with no bids)..... and it lists the thing you can change without bids!
It's badly written I've said before ! 🙂

Sorry my previous post / explanation is correct. Your latest post is not logical and doesn't make any sense at all on what is a simple eBay page with +/- drop downs. Perhaps we are looking at a different page?
You can / you can't as the headers are very clear. There is no other way of interpreting it.
In case you are looking at a different page the one eBay took me to, and I have been using is:
Lets leave it at that. If I have time I'll take it up with eBay using the Dublin phone back you recommended. Many thanks.

End of the day, you have bids can you add photos and change details? No , this then can answer your question, if it was an eBay issue, an eBay technical issue, others would be reporting this 24/7 here on the forum.
There have been none.
I've tagged a Community eBay Manager to hopefully put their input here, hopefully will get their reply tomorrow.
