item sold as collection only and the buyer wants to return it charging me for a courier

A buyer bought an item with collection only. They are suggesting it is not as described even though it was. I put fair condition with cushions need a good clean or replacing, they have said they are a health hazzard and discusting and they will not have them in there house . I have stated the listing description and they are not that bad at all just very dirty as pictured also. I have offered a refund if the buyer returns them. They have said ok but they will return them using a courier and i will have to pay. They then said or we can have a partial refund even though they wouldnt put them in there house?. who should pay as the listing was collection only. they have also not opened a request.

If the buyer paid through Ebay checkout and collected the item themselves, they are covered by the Ebay Money Back Guarantee,

Unfortunately, you are responsible for getting the item back.  Of course, you could collect it yourself or arrange your own courier.

It does sound as if they are angling for a partial refund - that might be an easier solution in this case.

They are correct about the courier, as for an "item not as described" dispute eBay will require you to send the buyer a prepaid return label or make other arrangements for the return - but they must include postal tracking.

Or you could simply refund them without the item having to be returned - or refund them, and then arrange to collect the item yourself (if they agree to this).
