Returns process is unnecessarily difficult

I bought 2 of the same item. I opened one up and it was nothing like the listing and also not fit for purpose. I started the returns process but only had 1/2 selected as a return, once I realised I tried to open another return, couldn't do it so cancelled the first one to start again only to not be allowed to reopen. When I contacted customer service they acted like I was stupid, the email confirmation or returns page did not specify this policy so how am to know. I was told it could be raised with the supervisor but they were very unlikely to grant a new return, I was advised to go through PayPal!! Seller is not responding to my messages. How can Ebay offer a money back guarantee when they don't offer a returns process fit for purpose. What possible reason could there be for not allowing customers to open a return, especially when I have a valid reason for making a mistake.

Returns process is unnecessarily difficult

You did have a valid reason for the return.

You rightly opened a case for item not as described, as per the rules of eBay's 30 day MBG,  Money Back Guarantee policy.

You then  wrongly,   closed the case !

Once a case is closed it cannot be reopened with eBay.

For that item,  you can turn to your payment provider for hep with your refund.

If this was 2 separate purchases,   you can still open a case for item not as described for the other item,  escalate on day 4 if not refunded beforehand.
