I sold a diesel pump and the buyer returned it after 30 days saying it did not work but offered  no explanation from the mechanic or garage the fitted it .when returned it had second hand parts fitted to it and the high pressure sensor  had been removed and refitted the wrong way with old bolts

If the item was returned outside an eBay case's timeline,  the buyer had 30 days from the item's last estimated date for delivery to return it if it was faulty.

If they have returned it outside this period and with modifications, that is,  returned not in the same condition as sent out,  it's now between you and the buyer how to handle any refund.
