Scam buyers

I listed a vehicle which someone quickly bought for the listed price. They then contacted me and made arrangements to collect the item and pay on arrival. On the day or collection they never showed and completely ghosted me ignoring my messages. When I went through their feedback after they have done this multiple times to many people, each time taking the vehicle off the market and costing the seller the listing fees. Multiple people have reported this and yet nothing has been done. Why have eBay not removed this person and cancelled their account?

You should only remove classified ads upon receiving the payment in your hand and the buyer driving off in the vehicle.

As you have found, buyers can let you down with false promises.

You have not taken the precaution of setting your preferences to block buyers with two or more unpaid strikes, or none of the many people he has done this to have given unpaid strikes.

If sellers let this sort of buyer continue, then how do you expect ebay to take any notice if you do not use the tools available.

You also seem to have sold this vehicle twice, so presumably you also cancelled the first sale before 4 days had passed, so it will cost you 2 listing fees and 2 selling fees.

Blame the sellers who broke the rules rather than giving this buyer an unpaid strike.

Unfortunately your false positive feedback is serious feedback abuse and given within the time allowed for payment.

If you're going to relist your car again, the cheapest and best format to sell a vehicle on is an eBay Classified Ad. This also cuts out the time wasters and non-payers.

A Classified Ad costs £19.99 and there are no final value fees if you sell your item.

Your listing runs for 30 days, during which you can arrange for potential buyers to view your item, you can then end it once paid. You can accept offers too (you don't accept the offer until the buyer has been to view first).

If you decide instead to list in auction format or fixed price Buy It Now it will cost £14.99 for your listing, and that fee is payable even if your item doesn't sell or you end up with a non-payer, and if you sell your item, there are final value fees of 1% of the final transaction (min. £25, max. £45)
