Help!

Hi. I listed an expensive watch which then sold but the buyer cancelled after paying but before dispatch. I was then asked by ebay to complete the cancellation which I tried to do but they were asking for £829 from my own personal account as they’d already removed the commission payment, so I am being asked to pay back funds for something I haven’t yet received. How do I solve this?

This is how ebay issue refunds.   They take from your bank but you will receive the buyer's payment when it clears.

Are you sure you're right about this? I agree it's how refunds are handled when the buyer's payment has already been transferred to the seller by eBay.

But in this case eBay is apparently expecting pa_812878 to pay eBay £829 to refund the buyer, when eBay itself is still holding the buyer's payment. I've never been in this situation, but surely it can't be right?

Many people won't even have a sum that large available in their account, and even if they do why should they pay it to eBay when eBay is still holding the payment that the buyer is asking to be returned?

Anything is possible on eBay, and I don't have time to look it up at the moment, but it sounds crazy.
