Item returned via EVRI

Hi, eBay item number:277912417628 sold and was shipped using Ebay simple delivery and EVRI.

The tracking number is H05QTA0227343097 and it was dropped at courier drop off on May 3rd.

Yesterday it was delivered back to me with no reason why, and not instructed to do so by the buyer (who was still waiting to receive it)

According to the tracking, a return label was produced on the 5th, and a return generated on the 8th?

I have tried contacting EVRI a few times, and via the automated service I just get advised its been delivered, which I guess is true in a way, but when I try to go via the phone service I just get a message there is a “technical issue” and to try later – been trying this a few times.

Can you advise what I do now as if I try and resend it would be at my expense and outside of Ebay, so not sure what my options are.

Thanks,

Andy

My first action would be to contact the buyer - if you sent this on May 3rd, I am surprised they haven't opened a case.  You can at least confirm that the delivery address you used was correct - or not.

They may know why it was returned to you.

As you are a private seller using eBay's simple delivery service it's not up to you to sort out the delivery or re-delivery.

In your position I would start by contacting eBay customer support. They might just send you a fresh prepaid label (at their own expense) to try again. Or they might say that it's up to the buyer to open an item not received case under eBay's money back guarantee, and that they will handle it from there. If they are satisfied that the item was not delivered to the buyer they may simply refund them themselves. The item would then be yours to do what you like with.

If the buyer contacts you, I would advise telling them that as it's eBay's own delivery system you have referred it to them to deal with.
