evri damaged parcel

hi I have had a buyer who didn't recieve their parcel and I did simple delivery. I have contacted the courier which is every and they said the damage is beyond repair and will dispose the parcel as I don't think its true because I put it in a firm box and the item inside wouldn't likely get damaged as its a hard ball and its sealed but I don't know what to do 

does eBay refund them or do I?

as its not my fault swell

Ask the buyer to open a "not received" case (if that is what the tracking is showing) then ebay will refund and you keep payment.     

If the tracking is showing as delivered but damaged (you never know with Evri)  ask the buyer to open a return using "Damaged in delivery" and again ebay will refund.   The item will not have to be returned.
