How long before a refund is given

I bought a yellow sapphire ring from India, not real, spoke to the seller to have sent it back, have a proof of sending,no sign of delivery.

How long do I need to wait for the refund please.

I did ask the seller for a return as the stone in the ring was not genuine and he agreed.

As for only having 30 days what happens when it takes longer than that,if that's the case and they don't give you a return in time the money doesn't get refunded.

You only have 30 days from receipt to use the ebay money back guarantee to claim your refund.  Did you open a claim through ebay in that time frame?

If you didn't it's too late now.

Outside of the 30 day period ? --- talk to your Bank/Card issuer for advice on how to make a claim ASAP.

I bought it on 8th of march and sent it back on the 20th, after waiting for him to actually send me a shipping label in march and asked for a refund and a QR code and a shipping label to send it back.I had to ask him two to three times but he took his time and eventually I sent it back on 20th of march.I see that apparently, 'a courier has got the return' for delivery to him so yes it was well within the time of 30 days.
I still have the certificate of posting so if I have to I'm going to get in touch with customer service to sort it out,he deliberately didn't send it to me straight away and left it to the last minute.

So did you open a claim under the eBay mbg as @papso22 @asked? As reading your last post I am not sure you did?

That's really not helpful!  Many people with longstanding accounts still do the wrong thing.

Where are you seeing 'the courier has got the return for delivery'?  Is it on ebay somewhere?

If you did open a case, then the seller has to refund you within 48 hours of receiving the item back.  So, once tracking shows the seller has the item back, their time to refund starts.

If they don't refund you, you ask Ebay to step in via the case.

You can't do this until the tracking shows the item has been delivered back to the seller.

Check here to see if you did open a case and to make sure the tracking was added (either automatically or by you) when the case was opened.

Just to add to all the correct replies,  when eBay do send you a message that you have been refunded,  it's not always instant,  and does go back to original payment source.

If you paid with PayPal it goes back to your PayPal account fairly swiftly.

Paying with a debit / bank card?  Can take up to 12 days to appear back in your bank account.

Credit card payment?  This takes the longest,  up to 30 days to appear back in the card account used.

Hopefully your tracking will update soon to show delivery.

Without proof that the seller has received their item back, eBay will not issue a refund.
