Message about setting up a direct debit.

When I add my account for payments to be made to I get a message thanking me for setting up a direct debit. What is this about?

I currently have items for sale that people are contacting me to accept offers. If i accept an offer how  will i notify ebay that I have accepted an offer? I assume the purchaser would pay the funds to Ebay and they would pass the payment to the account I have listed, is that so?

Ebay collects payment from your buyers, and then you can withdraw cleared funds, which are then paid into your bank account.

The direct debit, which you set up at the same time, could be used for refunds - if you did not have available funds - and things like listing upgrades, if you listed an item with a reserve or in two categories for example.

There may be times when you pay money back to Ebay. This is why you have to agree to the direct debit.
