Seller continually cancels orders??

I recently purchased a sellers items for unbelievably cheap prices, I checked their feedback before proceeding and there were a lot of positive reviews but many many negative reviews all claiming "seller cancelled order". I knew my payment would be covered by eBay's guarantee so I went ahead and sure enough all 12 items were cancelled, I took another look at sellers recent feedback and I wasn't the only one and going back through the sellers feedback history it's a very common occurrence. But why would a seller do this, what advantage can they gain, could it be for improving the look of their tax returns. Something must be going on, but what. Anyone have any ideas?

It sounds to me like they are out of stock on a lot of items ,  and if they are cancelling  for that reason, they will receive damaging defects on their account.

Whatever the reasons,  if this is how they are continually proceeding in cancelling orders,  they will not be selling for too long,  eBay do not like disappointed buyers!

Thanks for your reply, I've just come across another seller appearing to sell items they don't actually have and it's dawned on me, buyers are paying and whilst refunds are given fair enough but during the time of paying and receiving refund, eBay is receiving interest on those held payments, might not seem much on a few orders but if there are many set up "sellers" doing this and advertising cheap "bait" stock, that could mount up to a lot of interest eBay are earning on buyers payments and as these "sellers" continue to do this makes me think eBay are complicit in this scheme or maybe I'm just paranoid.

You are paranoid.

There is absolutely no way ebay are deliberately involved in these sellers' actions for financial gain.
