will I have to pay tax (vat) on a used camera lens from japan with a value of £100?

At checkout you should be charged vat by ebay, which they then pay to the relevant authority. As long as customs paperwork is done correctly by the seller that should be it.

I did wonder as it a used item if there would be any VAT to pay.
