So from a recent purchase be aware that eBay is adding vat onto it’s advertised buyer fees, despite advertising that all prices include vat.
have checked with the private seller and he is not vat registered and does not know of any reason. Try asking eBay and have more chance of flying to the moon. Anyone know how to avoid this?

What is the item number?
If the seller is overseas, VAT will be automatically added. I think this applies if their items are posted from overseas as well.

I hadn't thought of this before, but as with any business providing a service VAT is payable on eBay's fees. This has nothing to do with whether the user is VAT registered.
I'm not sure where the VAT on their fees is shown, but I imagine it will say somewhere "including VAT".
