Combining postage nightmare

Combining postage was so simple before ebay introduced "simple delivery". Now I just can't work out how to do it.

I've sold an item and the buyer has paid (including pre-paid delivery costs - I didn't offer free delivery). She has now sent a message about a second item " add this to the item I have just bought". I am translating that as "please send an invoice for this item and combine postage". She's already paid for a 1kg parcel and this could be added and still be within the weight range so theoretically can be post free.

How can I do this? is there an easy way? One solution would for me to cancel her purchase, then relist the two items together and hope she will actually decide to buy (which let's face it, often doesn't happen when you go out of your way for buyers).

Honestly ebay, I feel like a performing monkey; I so miss the genuinely simple selling, buying and posting days!

PS. Evri 1kg parcels cost £2.69. I used to charge £2.90 to include a tiny amount for packaging. Now ebay charge the buyer £2.94 for the same parcel plus 'Buyer's protection' (which gives the buyer no more protection than it did before) and I have to fund all costs for packaging from my own pocket.

Combining postage nightmare

Yep,  it's still a technical issue, why so long to fix this?  Nobody knows!

If postage was purchased though Simple Delivery and you now post all the items together the buyer will receive a refund for the unused labels they paid for, might be worth sending them a message explaining this,  and that it may take up to / over 30 days for the refund to appear.

The best way forward would be to cancel all items, of course,  with the buyer's acceptance, and relisting them as one, so there's one  important tracking number, one postage price. Ensure any message to your buyer makes it very clear the reason why the items are being cancelled,  that they are to be relisted on eBay again,  for the buyer to buy, leave no room for doubt that this is Not an off eBay sale.

Some sellers are leaving a message on their listing,  for example.....   ' If you wish to buy multiple items,  please let me know before buying,  I will relist them as one listing so only one postage cost is charged, combining postage is not currently possible. '
