I have been using eBay and had a verified user account since 2002 ! Yeti need to verify my age….. problem I don’t have a credit card  I don’t use them. Alternative method of verification…… non! Common sense non! I’m trying to buy a broken chainsaw with no bar or chain hardly dangerous!

Not disgusting service, it is the only way ebay will accept as proof of age, and it is a legal requirement.

Simple solution is to get someone else to buy for you. Rather stupid when it is so easy to get round, but ebay is set in its ways.

This question is asked multiple times every day. The answer is always the same: for items requiring age verification, eBay only accepts payment by credit card.

Yes, there are other ways in which age could be verified, but they would require checking by eBay. Credit card holders must be aged 18 or over, so age is automatically verified. Which is presumably simpler for eBay.

If you think eBay should accept other methods of verification, please complain to eBay - not us. We are only other users like yourself.
