Feedback

When I've sold an item I always wait for feedback from the buyer, I even send them a message asking for it. That way I know the buyer is happy with the purchase. Then I will return the favour with feedback for the buyer. 

Ebay regularly prompts me to leave feedback for an item I've sold that I haven't received feedback for. Should it be mandatory for the buyer to leave feedback first???.

I never leave feedback if I don't receive it. 

If I purchase and I'm happy I always leave feedback

Feedback is never mandatory.  It is a voluntary action on both sides.

In my opinion, it should never be mandatory for a buyer to leave feedback in order to get feedback from a seller.

If you don't want to leave feedback for your buyers, then don't.

I leave feedback for all of my buyers after they pay.

But that is entirely my choice and I would never request feedback from a buyer.

I do buy from Ebay using a separate account and any seller who asked me for feedback would definitely not get any.

Feedback

Those are just automated feedback reminders which we all receive, it annoys some, though you can deselect receiving them in your Site Preferences , and some members don't mind being reminded.

 

End of the day,   feedback is and always will be,  entirely voluntary for both parties, and it's a fact that fewer members on both sides,  are leaving any.

 

One tip if I may,  never send a message to a buyer to leave you feedback, as you may receive some,  you didn't wish for.  For example, a buyer received your item that they're not happy with , but do not wish to leave negative feedback so leave none.    Then, along comes your message to leave some, so they think....'Well OK as you're asking.....!'  and so a negative feedback is left.
