Age verification

eBay - we need to verify your age to make a purchase of a bladed item (a power tool)

Me - I've been a member for 22 years, that's over 18 years.

eBay - no we need your credit card to verify. But we don't accept American express or Mastercard as verification. 

REALLY ? - so they only way eBay will confirm your age is with a Visa Credit card. Not a debit card and not a passport, driving licence or any of the third party verification software available? This is madness

What you do not see is that, ebay does not know you, anyone could be using your account, and only a credit card will serve the purpose proving age.

It does not have to be a Visa Credit Card, but debit cards do not prove age, children can have a special debit card.

If it does not have to be a visa credit card, what else could it be? I've
been on the phone for over 90 minutes to 6 different call handlers trying
to resolve the issue and they didn't know.

My Mastercard is accepted for age verification purposes,  who told you it isn't?  If CS , then they do sometimes ' offer' incorrect information.  They are correct  about Amex,  that is not accepted.

A valid Mastercard preferably with over 6 months validity is accepted on eBay for this purpose.

I have 2nr mastercard credit cards registered on the account and neither has resolved the issue. The customer service rep said that mastercard was not accepted as age verification as they are available to under 18s. The problem continues
