A friend who is now locked out of her ebay account sent a large letter that weighed 45 grammes via simple delivery. The buyer contacted my friend to say the letter had not arrived. She asked them to check their sorting office/local post office.
They got back today to state that letter did not have enough postage on it and would only release the letter to them if they paid £1.50 first.
A very disgruntled customer. My friend has been on ebay for over 14 years with immaculate feedback. She is absolutely sickened and is now locked out of her site so cannot contact them. It's an utter nightmare for her.

I don’t know what happened with the postage
re getting into their account they could try resetting their password
it gives you an option to use email or text
just put in user id, then confirm the phone number registered with eBay and the option screen comes up to be notified by email or text, so chose email, for the rest

A simple delivery label will have been at least 2.74 to cover up to 1kg large letter
Even if the letter option was chosen in package size when listing but a large letter size used instead ,the postage will have covered the weight plus size
curious
Maybe it wasn’t simple delivery and seller got caught out by new April postal rates ? Didn’t put enough postage on , if it was with stamps ?
not sure how to contact eBay re a locked account, someone will come on hopefully and post

When you say locked out of her account.......have Ebay closed the account or do you know why/how she is locked out?

They are unsure why they are locked out just going round in a loop and it won't accept the password she's been using for years. They don't own a mobile phone and therefore cannot receive texts which is what the automatic box is insisting on. It's all quite upsetting for her. She's wasted over two hours on the phone with BT attempting to get confirmation of receiving texts on a landline but seems that that is no longer provided.

Hi there - It was in a letter sized envelope and weighed 45 g. The letter was undelivered and no note was left at the buyers address to say they'd attempted delivery.
If ebay are taking over postage then they should update the pricing - surely?

Ebay won't accept the password she's used for approx 14 years. They are sending texts to a landline but they don't arrive as that service no longer exists. She does not have a mobile - nor a printer for that matter.

How big was the envelope and what package size was selected?
E.g. there's an SD option up to 100g and 24 * 16.5 * 0.5 cm;
another for up to 1kg and 35 * 25 * 2.5 cm - which is still quite thin.
Both of those cost the buyer £2.70 standard rate.
Other options (i.e. larger dimensions) cost more.

Are you sure it was Simple Delivery? How did your friend manage to get the label if she doesn't have a printer or mobile/smart phone?
