Anyone else being overcharged for Simple Delivery postage?

We choose Simple Delivery, seller pays shipping, select the correct postage, which is £2.72 (even though most of the time we should be sending it for approx 87p 🙄  )

And then when the item sells we see we have been charged £3.38.

This happened with random listings, some the label is charged correctly as £2.72 and others £3.38.  6 listings in total overcharged.  I reported it to eBay through the webchat and was told "they will escalate the case and get back to me within 72 hours" - that was 7 days ago now and it's happened again since then, no email response from eBay to my "escalated" issue.

Anyone else experiencing this?

I would also recommend everyone check their Labels section in Seller Hub to double check how much they are actually being charged for Simple Delivery postage.

Anyone else being overcharged for Simple Delivery postage?

Still no help or reply from eBay on this.  I contacted the webchat again and they tell me to expect an email from the team investigating in 72 hours, 48 hours, etc.  Now they don't even give me a time frame anymore, just wait for a reply 🙄

Still happening too, I'm up to 8 orders overcharged now.

Anyone else being overcharged for Simple Delivery postage?

Update for anyone that cares/has similar issue...

Contacted CS yet again, this time on the phone.

Rep had no idea why this error is occurring but confirms it is indeed a problem and I should be due a refund.  Up to 12 orders now affected.  Again I am told the issue has been escalated, this time to the "IT dept".

If I don't hear back from anyone by Tuesday he recommended I phone up again.

Simple delivery is magic, isn't it? The very least that Ebay CS should be advising you is to change your listings so that buyer pays postage. Then you won't have apparently random amounts being deducted from your sale proceeds.

Unfortunately, it may make your items harder to sell but that's SD.

Anyone else being overcharged for Simple Delivery postage?

UPDATE:

After I contacted them by phone for the second time on that Tuesday they immediately refunded me for the extra postage on the 12 orders, in fact they gave a me about £1 extra on top of what they owed me.

It's now been at least a month since I flagged the issue to eBay's various depts and still I have had no contact from eBay's IT dept (or any other) and of course the issue itself still persists.  I still randomly get charged £3.38 on listings that state the shipping should be £2.72.   I'm up to 3 affected orders now, I figure I'll wait until I'm up to 10 or 12 again and then contact them for another refund.   Again this doesn't happen to every order, it just seems to be random.

I can't believe I'm the only one this is happening to.  I feel sure it's happening to lots of others who perhaps aren't paying close attention to how much eBay are taking on Simple Delivery labels.

Were the  items where you paid the higher postage rate  sold at over £100?  I had a similar experience a month or so ago -  then discovered that eBay charge a higher amount for Simple Delivery large letters over this amount, rather than the normal £2.72 ( even though Royal Mail tracking covers up to £150).  Now I ensure that all my appropriate listings are 'buyer to pay postage'.

Anyone else being overcharged for Simple Delivery postage?

Sorry for delay in replying @1956ajo

No, none of these were over £100 in value.  They are usually just DVDs or blu-rays and value from £10 to £30.

Tracked 48, up to 1kg, 35 x 25 x 2.5.  Charged at £2.72.

Then when the item sells I can see the dimensions have changed slightly to "up to 1.5kg" and we've been charged £3.38.

eBay (and it's IT dept) obviously have no idea what is causing this problem.  They can see what we should be paying by creating a sell similar draft on the sold item and they all agree "oh that should not be happening" 🙄

Anyone else being overcharged for Simple Delivery postage?

UPDATE:

Still no contact from the mythical eBay IT dept.

Over the past month we have been overcharged on 7 more orders.  So we requested a call back this morning assuming it would be a simple case of another "here's a refund and see you again next month" but nope, looks like we're back to the beginning of the cycle again with the CS rep telling me they have to open a ticket with the IT dept and wait for a call back before they can do anything.

I asked; can't they see multiple tickets already opened with the IT dept and nobody ever gets back to me or solves the issue?  The CS rep says they don't see any of that, nor any other history of this issue on my account.

So now I wait on the CS person calling me back yet again. Hmmm I wonder if they will....

Anyone else being overcharged for Simple Delivery postage?

UPDATE:

They didn't call back.  So I contacted them again and got a call back with yet another CS person.

I explained the situation again for what feels like the millionth time.  This CS person had me on the phone for a full 60 mins, while they created draft after draft of one of the sold items I had been overcharged postage on, while they put me on hold and checked with I don't know who, while they attempted to fob me off by telling me I was choosing the wrong shipping - I wasn't and I patiently explained the dimensions of a DVD and the appropriate shipping is exactly what I was choosing no matter what eBay might "recommend" on the listing page.

They told me they could not refund me.  I told them; they did refund me last month for the 10 or so previous sold items I was overcharged postage on at that time.  Why can't you refund for me the new 7 this month?

They told me that was a courtesy and a one off.  I told them; so you expect me to be OK with eBay overcharging me postage and I should just accept that, when you can clearly see there's an issue with your system?

I actually felt bad for the CS person on this call because they were trying hard and getting nowhere.  They told me to expect a phone call back.  I've heard that before of course. They say by Monday at the latest.

TL;DR - eBay knows there's an issue, but apart from a potential one off courtesy refund you won't be getting your money back so suck it up buttercups.

I would recommend nobody use "Simple Delivery" until they sort the issue.  For the moment if you can still opt out, do so.
