I have always used the Post office for sending items, but tried the Ebay postage label system  recently and the Post Office said they couldn't accept the package as it has to go via Royal Mail!!  I thought the post office was Royal Mail.  Anyone else had this problem?

They are separate now but the post office does facilitate RM's business.   Some small post offices may not accept ebay labelled items.   Do you have another one you can try?

I’m rural but am near a larger town. Will give it another go.
Thanks.

Looks like not all PO's  have grasped this new Simple Delivery process in accepting those parcels.

Looks like you need to find another PO that is up ' on the times'.

Personally,  not blaming any little PO,  wondering if the information was sent on time,  and  was as informative as we have been given here,  with all the current changes and updates.

Hard to keep up , not a smooth transition!

The Post Office is na completely different entity from Royal Mail. EBay have a deal where you can take the parcel to the Post Office and they will accept it even if weight/dimensions is wrong. If the label says Tracked 48 then it is RM. If you don't have the EVRI option switched off, then it may be with them.
