Trying to get help - but the chat system is useless

I placed a bid on an item - ie more than the opening amount

I decided to increase my highest bid amount.

I won the auction but ebay made me bid against myself! So in effect I've paid more for the item than I need to.

The AI chat system has no option that allows me to get an answer.

Where do I find the link to actually talk with someone - I just keep going round in circles.

Please show details of bidding.

It is not possible to bid against yourself, unless there is a reserve, when bidding below the reserve, means you cannot win, unless you increase bid to at least the reserve orice.

And, yes I'm aware of the reserve price system.

From memory, there is a message along the lines of "your winning but you've not met the reserve price"

This type of message didn't appear.

I simply decided to increase my reserve price incase some got closer to the price I was prepared to pay - I couldn't be on line towards the end of the aution
