THE NEW PLATFORM - FOR BETTER OR WORSE?

WORSE 1.  Nesting.  Debatable whether it’s a good idea in theory, but in practice it means that nested new comments are too difficult to find. 2.  No pagination.  You can get a [mostly] chronological order by switching the viewing to Oldest.  But then you have to scroll, scroll, scroll and keep scrolling because now there’s no pagination so you can’t just click to the last page. 3.  Posts not dated.  OK you can hover over where it says “a week ago” and see the date/time, but what was the benefit in hiding the actual date/time?  It’s much more useful to be able to see the actual date of posts. 4.  Number of comments.  Nested comments don’t appear to be counted in the number of comments.  So if you’re following a thread and you know it previously had X comments, you could miss nested comments because the thread will still show X comments. 5.  No messaging system.  Previously it was one click to send a private message.  Now you can only message people by using several clicks via their Profile>Listing>Contact>Notaboutan item. 6.  Finding your own post in Profile.  So I’m scrolling through my posts to try and find a previous one, but if it was a “nested” one, it doesn’t show the name of the thread, just who I’ve replied to.  That makes it more difficult to find the post I want.  And even when I clicked on one of the posts, it didn’t take me to the post, only to the thread. BETTER 1.  AI summary.  Not very useful for general discussion threads, but could be useful when the OP starts a very long complex thread, particularly one which has no paragraph breaks and not very coherent.  I haven’t got the patience to read those, but I might read the AI summary. 2. Images are easier to load, and you can now use .png images instead of having to convert the .png to a .jpg. VERDICT I’m sure the usual “people don’t like change” brigade will laud the new platform, as usual ignoring the fact that it’s change for the worse that people don’t like.  I’m sure I posted previously (but I can’t find it) a comment that ebay might make the forum so difficult to use that it discourages people from using it and only people with a desperate problem will go to the trouble.  If that was the aim, I think they’ve achieved it.  Certainly I think the nested format makes it difficult to use and it’s a deal-breaker for me, I really can’t be a…. with it. EDIT - 18.6.26, 9pm Having used the forum some more since my first post, I can add several more aspects that are worse than the previous platform. 7.  Titles of Unread threads used to be in bold.  Now you can’t tell whether or not a thread has new posts that you haven’t read.  It’s a nuisance. 8.   Mentors are no longer identified, except in the M2M section of the forum.  On many occasions I’ve explained to newbies that mentors can virtually always be relied on to give trustworthy advice (which isn’t to say that many others don’t also give accurate advice).  What’s the point of having mentors if nobody knows who they are.   Edit . It looks like the mentors have become “volunteers” now, but who knows what “volunteers” are, and their status isn't obvious anyway unless you click on their profile.  It’s ridiculous! And in any case, we're all volunteers seeing as none of us get paid for posting here! 9.  Can’t see who last replied to a thread.  One mentor in particular has commented that it’s causing them problems and they might only bother with the M2M board now.  I agree it’s a nuisance. 10.  Autosave has disappeared.  That’s another nuisance. 11.  No Preview button.  I nearly always used the Preview button on the other forum - I found that viewing my post as others would view it highlighted if it made sense or not, and I often made changes to make the meaning clearer. 12.  Posts aren’t numbered.  I sometimes noted the ID number of a helpful post so that I could easily go back to it.  You can’t bookmark posts either on this forum. Again it's a nuisance. 13.  Trying to find a post on Profile > Discussions > Comments is difficult because it doesn’t show the title of thread that the posts are in. 14.  The emojis that have replaced the “Kudos” button are anonymous, so now you can’t see who has “liked” a post which is a shame.  Seeing who liked what enabled you to get a sense of what people were like and help build the community spirit that forums are normally supposed to engender. 15.  I’ve seen other people say that it loads faster, but it doesn’t load faster for me, quite the opposite in fact.  It sometimes takes so long to load that I get a Gateway Timeout, or a blank page and the message “Something went wrong. Failed to load tags”.  (Mac laptop using Firefox latest version). All in all, I think it’s a disaster, and I’m sorry, ebay, but I doubt if many of us are surprised because it seems that whenever you change something, it always ends up worse than before.  AFAIK, nobody had complained about the Khoros platform, and whilst I understand that you may have had to change due to technical or financial considerations, why did you have to choose this Bevy one because it seems vastly inferior to the previous board, or any other board that I’ve ever belonged to.  Somebody has suggested that vBulletin would have been better, and I agree, or ProBoards, or surely ebay is big enough to design & build your own board instead of buying into a 3rd party board. Anyway it’s just all too cumbersome and annoying for me now, and I’ve seen other people say that they no longer want to spend time here either.  I may look in from time to time to see if any improvements have been made, particularly to the nesting nonsense and a few of the other major nuisances, but otherwise this is the only thread I'm reading seeing as I'm the OP.  I still have a sneaking suspicion that the aim of changing to this board was to encourage a cull of users….

      GLOBAL SHIPPING PROGRAMME

Hi everyone, please correct me if Im wrong, if you sell on ebay to a buyer through the international shipping programme and your sold item reaches the UK shipping centre and is then put into a shipping container and sent to the buyer destination. Am I right in saying that my part is competed and that ebay then take over with the rest of the delivery of the item sold to the buyer and if the package is lost in transit they take over with no comeback to the seller. This is my interpretation of the ebay policy but in my case ebay see it differently. They have just put a BLOCK ON MY PAYOUTS until the issue of the item not being delivered. . . Please share your thoughts and correct me if I am wrong in this matter. Kind regards to you all

My eBay Sales are down by 64% so far this year

Has anyone else noticed sales on eBay are well down.   I can't even give items away! I either get ridicules low offers for BIN or   Item Not Sold in my auctions.   Beginning to despair, costs almost exceed revenues after fees, postage and packaging etc..   I used to have many, many oversea buyers - all gone now. Is it just me or across the board?

Simple delivery and Royal Mail's Bring my Label collection service.

So simple delivery does not offer Royal Mail's bring my label service.  When buying a parcel collection Royal Mail give the option of bringing you the label as well so there is no need to print anything. Simple delivery has taken away the Royal Mail bring my label option.   eBay probably don't even realise that RM offer this service which used by many people.

Can anyone help with info on the process of buyer's missing item?

Context: I sent a few items I have sold, some old video games. Two of the items (separate buyers ) have no tracking updates from Royal Mail on the eBay system. I monitored these items for more than 2 weeks and now the 1 buyer has reported as item has not arrived. I believe them as I can see that from the day of posting there was no updates since and now blank as if nothing was posted at all. I have a receipt as proof so I have all I need to show I am not at fault. They asked for a refund, I have accepted to process it and messaged an apology. I tried to make a claim with Royal Mail website but I cannot since the system states its still too early to claim. What can I do now? Does eBay have a system to help make a claim? Technically the buyer is missing an item, but I refunded the item. eBay makes buyers buy protection fees, so how does this come into play? I know that a second buyer will come forward for their missing item. Clearly something went wrong that day at the post office. How can I do things different second time round?

Buyer wanting to return with item details that do not match

Hello everyone. I sold an item two weeks ago. It was a recent action figure produced over the last few years from my own collection. This morning the buyer has messaged and said they bought on behalf of their own buyer who wants to return as the item is inccorect. It states the correct size on the listing and the buyer's buyer has now said that the item was advertised as something ten inches bigger. Where it gets confusing is the item name and reference number they have provided do not fully match my item. The brand, year, scale and even character are different and match something from around 20 years ago. My listing does mention their character but only because my character was originally sold with their character but I made a point of saying only my character is included. I have run a search and the exact listing name and reference match the correct figure that was sold on the same day for what looks like the same price. It's a lot of money for me and the buyer has asked for a return if I can't provide this other item. Just looking for some advice on what to do. I've included below the message I received but put in brackets any specifics as to not tarnish the buyer's reputation for what could be an honest mistake. I have let them know that their details do not match my own item but do match another item sold. Also they note they think we have done businesses before, I cannot find any history of this. Here is the message: Dear (SELLER) Order (CORRECT ORDER NUMBER) I am (BUYER) . On (ORDER DATE EXACTLY 2 WEEKS AGO) I placed an order with you n behalf of my customer for (ITEM NAME AND REFERENCE THAT DOESN'T MATCH MY ITEM). This information was given to me by my customer. The item was delivered (DATE 3 DAYS AFTER PURCHASE) . Thank you for your speedy delivery. However when I showed it to my customer he immediately noticed it was not 16 inches bur 6 inches high. He insists it was advertised as being 16 inches. Do you have the 16 inches high figure? Does such a figure exist? My customer really wanted the 16 inch figure. If it does not exist would you allow me to return it for a refund? (I note you say no refunds) Thank you very much for your consideration on this one. I think we've dealt with you before without any difficulty. Thanks for this . I look forward to hearing from you. (BUYER NAME)

Suspiciously not getting ANY views of Items since ebay has started asking to (pay to promote)

Is anyone suspiciously not getting ANY views of  some of their items since ebay has started asking to (pay to promote)?   Im hearing people saying that ebay  are shadow banning & secretly penalising private sellers who haven't (paid to promote any of their items) .   I mostly sell off my old bmx parts from my collection , as such I have a lot of duplicate parts  many (hot items) that I have sold consistently over the years when I've put them up for sale on here.  They always get views but recently i've noticed some items not getting a single view after weeks & weeks of being up for sale  which is simply not possible .    Others have said the same & its all been since they changed the payout system & started asking private sellers to (promote their items) at a cost ?

Advice on selling Amiga Computer games.

A loft clearance has thrown up a box of Commodore Amiga Games which I'd like to sell. I've checked current Ebay listings and if the prices are realistic it seems my games could be worth a few quid. Unfortunately I'm unable to test them though I know they were all fine when we packed them away about 30 years ago. I'd be interested to hear from anyone who's experienced in this area to see what the best plan for selling.

Why have I stopped getting Emails saying items listed / sold / unsold / have a bid ect

Hi, Over the last maybe 5 days I have not had any emails from Ebay as I normally do confirming things like item listed or if its sold or even someone has placed a bid. Can anyone tell me if this is a Ebay thing or have I somehow turned something off so I do not get these emails ? Thanks, Jon.
