Selling live fish (coldwaterfish)

I have just had a message on my listing that selling live fish is now prohibited, I have been doing this for months and I cannot update my stock as the warning message appears.

but I see other sellers on there selling the same koi and goldfish

Any advice would be helpful, I do know they are stopping tropical fish soon

Regards Neil

Those sellers will soon too , no doubt receive the same message you have.

Here's eBay's policy on selling live fish:

You cannot sell live fish (or any live animals) on eBay UK, as their policy prohibits the sale of all live animals, including eggs and invertebrates.

Here's a more detailed explanation:
  • eBay's Live Animal Policy:
eBay UK's policy explicitly states that live animals, including pets, vertebrate and invertebrate feeder animals, and hatching eggs, are not allowed on the platform.

  • Why the ban?
The policy change was implemented to address concerns about potential issues with shipping live animals, ensuring animal welfare, and preventing the sale of potentially illegal or harmful species.

  • Alternatives:
If you're looking to sell fish, you could consider alternative platforms like fish clubs, Pets4Homes, Preloved, or other online marketplaces that allow the sale of live animals.

  • Licensing:
If you are selling a large number of fish regularly, you may need to consider if you are operating as a business and may need to obtain the necessary licenses from your local council.

They have already stopped the sale of live animals.   All sellers that still list them are breaking the rules.

eBay has now banned these from being sold on their platform, any listings currently up and running that you can see are breaching eBay policy and are reportable.

Just to add, it was never allowed to list 9 - 10 inch koi fish to be sent out on eBay. I believe that the max used to be 5cm.
