Simple Delivery just seems to be a money making scheme for eBay

After receiving the email stating that from 15th April Simple Delivery will be the ONLY option for postage, I thought I would check what eBay have as postage costs for a couple of my items versus the price I charge which is Royal Mail's online prices for Tracked 48 and 24 services.

Royal Mail have three pricing brackets:

parcels up to 2kg

parcels up to 10kg

parcels up to 20kg

Some of my items fall in the middle bracket.   If I send a Medium parcel of say 3kg, the price is £6.65 when I book online direct through Royal Mail's website.  However, when I checked the postage options on Simple Delivery, Ebay only provide options for parcels up to 2kg, and then lump all other parcel weights up to 15kg together and an option for parcels up to 20kg.  This means the postage option from eBay for my Medium parcel of 3kg would be £10.55 !!!  and a 20kg parcel would be just 11p more.

I also checked an item that I would send using Royal Mail Tracked 48 SMALL Parcel up to 2kg.  With Royal Mail direct it would be £3.39.  Simple Delivery postage would be £4.27 !

eBay used to be fun.  It's not anymore.  Too many restrictions being put upon private sellers and rule changes, fee hikes, then no fees, then buyers pay the fees, now being forced to use eBay's postage service.

You, Me and many thousands of other sellers feel exactly the same. Ebay are pricing us out of the market place with their inflated "Buyer Protection Fee's" and now their "Simple Postage". Is this a knee-jerk reaction, greed or stupidity on eBay's behalf. Probably all three and in Spades.

You need a comma in this sentence since you have two independent clauses.

Simple Delivery just seems to be a money making scheme for eBay

I decided to use eBay's live chat to see if anyone could clarify the postage options and extortionate pricing noted in my earlier message above.

I anticipated a standard response and they did not dissapoint.   After a lot of back and forth and receiving responses that did not address my concerns and seemed somewhat scripted, and me saying I wanted someone in their technical team to get back to me about this, I finally got this response:

"I’m extremely sorry for the inconvenience it has caused to you. This is a confirmed technical issue on eBay and we have coordinated with our Technical Team and they have informed us that they are currently resolving this in high priority."

I can't help feeling I was just being told what I wanted to hear to get me off Chat.  I was on for a long time having a rant!

I was told that my concerns would be passed on.  Hmm...

I will be keeping an eye on their postage pricing between now and 15th April.

I live in a rural area and it's not convenient for me to keep going out to the drop shop with parcels which is why I use Royal Mail so they can collect from my home.  If they don't do something about their wacky pricing for postage on Simple Delivery, I will have to remove several items as I simply won't be able to sell with such a ridiculous postage costs.
