I recieved an item (from a seller ive used before) but the item is faulty. Ive had no response from the seller for a refund. Ebay help says theres an option to click for them to 'step in' but its not appearing on the More Actions drop down list for me to click. I dont want to select the option of return for refund as sending this back is going to cost me half of what it costs. Clicking money back guarantee is going round and round the same loop of signing in and signing out so thats not working. Clicking to chat to autobot isnt helping me with what I need. Anyone had this issue before with the option for asking ebay to step in mot being there??

You may be looking a little too soon to escalate.

 

Opening a case for item not as described gives the seller 3 full days and it is timed to the second,  to either fully refund you,  or if they don't want the item sending back,  some don't,  on day 4 , the option to escalate,  ask eBay to step in will appear.

You do need to open a return.

If the item is faulty and you give that as the reason, the seller will have to provide a pre-paid label for you to return the item so there won't be a cost involved to you.

You can only ask Ebay to step if after you have opened a case and if the seller does not respond.
